Lianna Urfalyan of Bremer Whyte Brown & O’Meara, LLP

Lianna Urfalyan has dedicated her career to family law. Her focus is on complex divorce and custody issues. Lianna attended Southwestern Law School in California and finished her last year at Boyd School of Law. While in law school, she received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for Children and the Law, and the Witkin Award for Family Law Procedure and Practice. She has made it a point in her career to dedicate time to pro bono services and she has been a committed volunteer for the Family Law Ask-A-Lawyer Program.

When we asked Lianna why she does pro bono work, she replied that “family law cases entail the most emotionally driven and intimate issues – the parties’ children and the parties’ livelihood. Nevada is my home and I feel that I have the obligation to give back to my community and help individuals overcome and move past these difficult issues.”

We asked Lianna to share a story of a memorable client. She shared that her “most memorable client was a client that was a stay-at-home mother during her entire marriage and woke up to her husband having packed and moved without a word. Despite her husband responding to the original complaint, the husband decided to stop participating and relocated to a different state. I assisted the client in resolving the divorce issues, dividing the assets, and, ultimately, she was awarded the entirety of the marital residence due to the husband’s refusal to participate and provide her alimony. She now owns her own business, has remarried, and is expecting a baby in the upcoming months.”

For her commitment to pro bono, we honor Lianna Urfalyan as our April Volunteer of the Month.
