Pro Bono Volunteer of the Month-February 2020
Gayle Nathan of Bonanza Legal Group
Gayle has been practicing law for thirty years and has always been involved with pro bono services. She started her career as a Legal Aid Attorney in New York; representing clients in criminal matters. Gayle states that this was a memorable time in her life as she represented indigent defendants who needed her representation in Court. She pointed clients in the right direction in obtaining treatment for their substance abuse and education in different areas, while she honed her trial skills.
To this day, Gayle continues to make pro bono a part of her practice. The last Wednesday of every month she teaches a litigation class to pro per litigants on how to prepare for trial and is involved with representing children through the Children’s Attorneys Project.
When we asked Gayle why she does pro bono work, she said “Because of the ‘feel good’ benefit pro bono work yields.” “It is a great feeling to have people who cannot afford representation tell me they are grateful for the class, and appreciate that I took the time to share my knowledge and experience with them. I know that at the end of the class they are so much better prepared for Court, and that they understand what to expect at trial.”
For her commitment to pro bono, we honor Gayle Nathan as our February Volunteer of the Month.
