Pro Bono Volunteer of the Month-October 2019
Jason Onello of Onello Law Group
Jason Onello grew up in Cheektowaga, NY with dreams of becoming a hockey player. He relocated to Las Vegas in 2002, where he attended UNLV to obtain his Bachelor of Science in International Business Management in 2007. After several years in Food and Beverage Management at some of the most renowned resorts in our city, Mr. Onello returned to the UNLV campus, but this time to obtain a law degree from the William S. Boyd School of Law.
Jason first became involved with pro bono in law school when he worked for the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and was introduced to family law while working for Molly Rosenblum. He knew he always wanted to make pro bono an important part of his work when he started practicing. When we asked Jason why he does pro bono work, he said “I know what it’s like to not be able to afford to get help and be in a jam. It’s suffocating. I also don’t like the idea of someone getting taken advantage of because they don’t have money for counsel. I don’t expect a pat on the back from a client, but once in a while I get a hug and that’s enough.”
For his commitment to pro bono, we honor Jason Onello as our October Volunteer of the Month.
