Jennifer Hostetler of Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP

Jennifer Hostetler has lived in Las Vegas for almost thirty years. She attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and obtained her undergraduate degree in criminal justice then went on to attend law school at the UNLV Boyd School of Law. Jennifer is currently a litigation attorney at Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP and primarily practices in the area of labor and employment. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

Jennifer became involved with Legal Aid Center in 2008 and helped foster the relationship between Legal Aid Center and Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP. The firm’s commitment to pro bono work was swift, deep, and continuous as evidenced by the many law firm and individual pro bono awards received each year since then, including 2018 Law Firm of The Year, two Pro Bono Attorney of The Year awards, and numerous other recognitions.

When asked why Jennifer does pro bono work, she indicated that she has a genuine interest in helping people who need help, especially children who need a voice. She said, “These abused and neglected children have been through so much – much more than any child should ever to through. I cannot imagine how confusing the foster care and court system is to a child.” As a result, she wants to help them and give them some comfort in knowing they have a voice through her representation.

We asked Jennifer to tell us about a memorable client and how she was able to help the client. She told us about the case of a 16-year-old girl she represented who had been removed from her mother due to neglect. The teen had some behavioral issues and, initially, she did not want reunify with her mother. During the time Jennifer represented her, the minor became pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl. With the baby’s birth, the client and her mother reconciled, and her client addressed some of her behavioral issues. Jennifer mentions that it was very fulfilling to help her client achieve the result she wanted and see the positive change in her client’s reconciliation in the family.

The representation Jennifer brings these young clients is life changing and most memorable to the children she assists. She is making a difference one small client at a time. Jennifer’s compassion, endless dedication, and desire to assist those most vulnerable in our community is what makes her our July Children’s Attorneys Project (CAP) Volunteer of The Month.
