Caitlin Pyatt has made a significant impact in our Pro Bono Program. Since her first pro bono case in 2023 through our Children’s Attorneys Project (CAP), she has fiercely advocated for fourteen children, providing them with imperative legal representation during a dire time of need.
Ms. Pyatt’s representation spans a broad range of clients – without hesitation, she often takes cases involving large sibling groups with tenuous circumstances. She recalls a particularly memorable case consisting of two brothers, a middle-school-aged boy and his toddler-aged little brother. The two brothers were removed from their parents’ custody due to substance abuse concerns. Very quickly, it was apparent that the parents did not have the means to regain custody of their children. Due to the grandmother’s inability to adopt both children, the two brothers were separated– one was placed under the grandmother’s care, and the other was placed with a foster parent. The brothers were happy in their respective homes, but wanted to maintain close bonds with each other and their placements’ families. Caitlin advocated for these two boys to have regular contact with each other throughout the duration of their case and worked to ensure this was achieved. Ultimately, these two boys were successfully adopted by their desired caregivers, and they now have consistent visitation to ensure their brotherly bond is preserved.
When asked about her motivation for providing pro bono representation, Ms. Pyatt said: “I greatly enjoy giving a child or group of children a voice in court and representing their interests to the judge. It is immensely rewarding to know that the child’s voice is not going to be lost in the shuffle and that I get to provide them that representation.”
Caitlin states that her firm’s commitment to community participation allowed her to pursue her various pro bono endeavors: “Snell & Wilmer’s credo emphasizes our responsibility to serve the communities in which we live and work. In line with that commitment, the firm has supported the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada since opening our Las Vegas office in 2001.” To Ms. Pyatt, pro bono plays a vital function, “it is a way for me to give back to the community and represent individuals who would not otherwise have access to the legal system or to an attorney.”
For her incredible contributions to our Children’s Attorneys Project, we honor Caitlin Pyatt as our Volunteer of the Month for October 2025!
