The Partners in Pro Bono Program pairs experienced attorneys (must be barred 5 or more years) with Boyd law students to work together on a pro bono case.
Participating attorneys who accept pro bono cases through this program will have the benefit of being assisted by a Boyd student who can perform a number of tasks, including client counseling and negotiation, legal research, drafting, pleadings and more. This is a great opportunity for attorneys to share knowledge and help a student sharpen their skills, apply legal theory learned in the classroom to real life client cases, work through strategic decisions and often times master a case from start to finish. Students may also have the ability to litigate in Court.
Click here to see available cases that are featured on our website so you can let us know your case preference. We will then match you with a law student interested in the same case or practice area.
Case types include:
- Family Law (divorce/custody, guardianship, and adoption)
- General Civil/Consumer Fraud
- Bankruptcy
- Probate
- Appeals
- Federal
CAP cases are not available in this program
The Partners in Pro Bono Program kicks off with a fall orientation. At the orientation, attorney mentors will meet with their assigned student mentee and receive their case assignment. In addition, the orientationprovides an opportunity to discuss program goals and expectations along with some essential tips for working with pro bono clients.
For more information about the program or to register, please contact the Pro Bono Project or call 702-386-1422. Please indicate the area of law in which you can take a new pro bono case.
